The Football League Community Cup for Under 11's

This years competition took place at the KC Stadium (astroturf) back in December. Thirty six teams competed for the Hull and East Riding title and the honour of representing Hull City in the Northern Finals for Championship Clubs.

The eventual winners were: Swanland Primary, beating last years winners Driffield Juniors in the final.

Swanland Primary will now travel to Barnsley on 2nd May to compete against other teams representing Championship Clubs. If they are once again successful the next game will be at Wembley, prior to the play-off game.

The Football League Community Cup for Under 13 Girls

This years competition took place at the KC Stadium (astroturf) back in December. An ecouraging number of teams competed for the Hull and East Riding title. Participation in this event increases year on year - approximately 130 girls took part.

The eventual winners were: South Hunsley School, beating Newland School in the final.

South Hunsley went on to represent Hull City in the Yorkshire Qualifying Round, they did extremely well to make it too the final and narrowly losing 2-1 to Leeds United.

The team comprised of: Evie Robinson (Captain), Megan Storey, Emma Hodson, Lizzie Hodgkinson, Alice Clarke, Nellie Rawson, Jess Thompson and Annabel Cleminshaw

Results:

Bradford 2-1, lost

Doncaster 3-0, won

Darlington 3-1, won

Huddersfield 2-1, won

Leeds 3-1, lost

Grimsby 4-0, won

The girls finished second in the league, the top four qualified for the semi's, after a convincing 3-0 win over Huddersfield, they once again came across a strong Leeds team. The game was very close throughout, but unfortunately they lost 2-1.

The teacher, Matt Simpson was very proud of the girls, they gave 100% percent effort and behaved themselves impeccably - a real credit to the South Hunsley School.

John Davies, FITC Manager was suitably impressed and invited the girls and teachers to watch Hull City take on Burnley at the KC Stadium.
